My Birthday
Troupe McLeod
4/7/07
This is Troupe, the new 12 year old in
this world. I really did turn 12 today and I had a great birthday as
well.
It all started with waking up this morning. I knew that it
was my birthday and that I wanted to have many of my friends come to my
party. I took a long good shower and got very clean so that I would
smell really well at the party. As I was waiting for the party to begin
a few people called and said that they couldn’t come. I started
thinking how awful my B-day would be because barely anyone would be
there. At 3:45 PM we left for the skating place.
When we got to the skating rink one of my friends
named Sasha that I had made in 2nd and 3rd grade,
was already there. I arrived with my friend Darien, who I know from my
church. Once we got our table, my friends and I started skating. The
next people to come were Ethan and Eric whom I also know from my
church. They got their skates and joined us in our rampage over the
rink. We skated fast and we skated smoothly.
Finally the rest of my friends came. Their names are Jaden,
Lane, also from church, Maddie and Brianna, who I know from 4th
grade, and Alexis who I met from 2nd grade. The girls just
kind of walked the rink not really skated on it. In other words, they
were slow. The boys and I were flying around until we got tired then we
slowed down a bit but then we went fast again. That is what we did on
the skating rink!

Off the skating rink, we played many arcade games, won tons
of tickets to buy candy and other toys. There was also miniature golf
behind the skating building, which of course we went to! We played and
it was very fun. Although I am sure, it could have been a lot more fun
if there were things to go through and things that move that could have
hit the ball away from where you were going. When
all of our balls when down the last hole they got stuck cause someone
dropped rocks in the hole. The golf manager was very angry. We went
back inside and ate lots of pizza and cake and drank a lot of soda. The
party lasted an extra hour longer than it was supposed to last! At 8
PM, the party was finally over and everyone was gone.
That evening we went to Blockbuster to rent a movie to watch
on my birthday night. We rented “Happy
Feet”. On our way back home from Blockbuster, we went by Super Target
and I bought a PS3 game called Motor Storm with my birthday money. I
was so excited to see this game at the store because it was not supposed
to come out until late May. I of course got this game! The reason I
wanted this game so badly is because it is an off-road racing game that
is supposedly really fun. Daddy took us back to the bike section and we
found a really cool bike that we got as our new family bike. That is
what we did before we arrived at home.
At home sweet home we watched the movie Happy Feet. It was
a terrific movie. It was very interesting. However, bear in mind to
watch the March of the Penguins first. If you don’t, it will be hard to
understand Happy Feet. I did not have time to test out my new game
because it was midnight, which meant that it was not my birthday
anymore.
It feels great to be 12 now, but now I cannot wait until I’m
13!

Book Report On
Island of Blue Dolphins
Troupe McLeod
4/18/07
The
Island of Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell is a very, very
interesting book. Scott wrote this book with great details, describing
the island and almost every character. There are
a few sad things that happened but they all turn out good in the
end.
On
the island of Blue Dolphins there is a little village of
Indians
where our main characters live. There is Karana and her brother Ramo.
Karana’s Dad is chief of the village and he is a good leader until he is
killed later on. Karana is our main character and she is the one
telling the whole story.
One
day the Russians, or the Aleuts, which the tribe called them, came to
the island of Blue Dolphins to hunt wild otter. The chief agreed to let
them hunt only if the Indians
got their fair share of otter skins. This went well until it was time
for the Aleuts to leave. They broke their promise and brought out a
chest of beads and other items, instead. This made the women of the
tribe happy but the chief denied the
gift, because that was not their original bargain. A terrible fight
started between the Aleuts and the Natives leaving behind a dead chief
and a few dead Aleuts.
Just
a little after the fight the new chief goes in a canoe to try and find a
new land far off to the east to see if they could live there. After
about two years a couple of ships come to take all the
Indians
to that island off to the east. Ramo, Karana’s little brother, must
have his fishing spear so he runs back to get it and the ships leave
without him. Karana realizes this and jumps in the water to get to the
island to be with him. She is told that a boat will come back to get
them. While waiting, Ramo goes out to hunt one day and is fatally
attacked by some wild dogs. Karana is heart broken! The wild dogs are
now her enemy.
Karana who is now alone on the island starts to make herself a home
since the boat has not come back for a long time. She starts with
making some weapons to defend herself. Then she makes a house with
whale bone ribs as the fence. After that she starts to hunt the wild
dogs. She is able to wound the leader. She finds the leader very
wounded lying down in some grass and she takes him home. She tames it
and her dog makes a very good friend.
In
conclusion, Karana and her brother Ramo live a good life until the
Aleuts come. Their father is killed in the fight. It is time for them
to go to a new island to live a better life with more food supplies.
Tragedies strike. Lastly Karana gets situated to live on that island
alone for the rest of her life. Near the end of the story…oh
never mind! Read the story and see what happened in the end!
