Tom and Roxie's
Europe Adventure
Munich Lyon Italy Alps Riviera Monaco Paris
Tom and Roxie at the Atlanta Airport - we did a lot of waiting in airports.
Thanks to stand-by tickets we first ended up in
Munich, Germany!
With its amazing architecture, like The New Town Hall at Marienplatz...
and doors...
and churches, like Frauenkirche...
and strudel...
and river Isar...
and flowers...
We
wished we could stay longer.
Next day, it was to France by train through Germany. (Ulm, Germany)
Once in Lyon, France
we rented a
car and hit the (toll) highway.
Day three was spent in Annacy,
the Venis of France.
There was a boat tour around Lake
Annacy...
with mountains, castles,
and...
hang gliders!
Sun sets came late, so we went on to Mt. Blanc, passed
through it, and came out in...
...Italy!
Stopping late at the Edelweiss Hotel in Pre' Santo Didier, Italy.
Yes, we thoroughly blended all of Europe by eating pizza in France, staying in a German hotel in Italy, and later you will see Tom eating French fries in Monaco!
Day four was spent in the French Alps!
1. Along road N212 near Megeve we saw this glacier.
2. For lunch we stopped in the woods near this little chruch in Argenine.
3. The fields were a splash of color with early spring flowers.
4. But there was still snow melting! Check out the mountain climber!
5. We stopped to hike around and throw a snow ball. (The silver Opel is the car we had rented.)
6. At the top of the world! Words cannot describe the view from Galibier Pass (alt. 2556 m.)
7. See what I mean by small, windy road? (Road N6)
To top it off, God added his special touch that day:
through a rainbow we seemed to be chasing
and then a gorgeous sun set!
That night we stayed in Seyne les Alpes, France and
the next morning...
...or,
day 5 took us on another winding road (N202), passing
fortified cities like Entrevaux.
Next...
the French Riviera!
In
Nice some nice Chinese tourists took our picture.
Blue-green Sea, White yachts, and Magenta Bougainvillea, made the trip to Monaco fascinating.
Monaco was amazing from its old town and castle,
to its modern cars.
From yummy French Fries,
to yucky reality
from night life
to
driving
Miss Daisy!
Our hotel
had a view of the port.
Early the next
day we returned the rental car in Nice and caught the
TGV (the world's fastest train) to...
1. Wandering down the Seine River you might see a painter at work.
2. In the park behind Notre Dame was this French couple trying to ignore the tourist's cameras.
3. The metro (subway) carried all types of people and... plants!?!
4. From our hotel window we saw these children leaving their home, excited to be on an adventure.
5. The steps in front of the Opera House make a great stage for the classic "French Kiss".
6. At the Louvre, people added greatly to the art.
7. Can you guess what little painting this crowd couldn't take their eyes off of?
The sun sets on our last day in Europe...
NOT!! Standby tickets had us waiting in the airport an extra day, so we had another night in Paris. But we were too tired to do more sight seeing and took no more pictures. However, if you are interested, there are 680 more pictures and four hours of unedited video you have not yet seen!
